Air Force Family Gets Huge Surprise At Baseball GameJacob H.
While Air Force Major Robert Rowton was serving on a six-month deployment overseas, his family took an evening to enjoy’s America’s pastime — they went to see a baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds. Rowton’s wife, Jill, and their three daughters, Bronwyn, Abigail and Alena were having a great time at the game, little suspecting that they were in for the surprise of a lifetime.
During the fifth inning, the military family was invited to come down onto the field at Citizens Bank Park to dance with the Philadelphia Phillies’ mascot, the Phanatic. And while they were having a great time dancing the music stopped after just 20 seconds.
As the family looked around to see what had happened, the Phanatic pointed to someone who had just stepped out onto the baseball field.
Of course, it was Maj. Robert Rowton, who had returned home safely from his deployment without letting his family know in order to surprise them.
The Philadelphia Phillies helped orchestrate the huge surprise homecoming with Maj. Rowton to make it an unforgettable night for his family and everyone else watching the game — both at the ballpark and on television.
The only thing bigger than the actual surprise by the Air Force Major is the reaction he got from his family! His daughters and wife immediately run up to him and hug him, and the emotion is clearly visible on their faces. It’s a homecoming surprise you have to see!
Service members sacrifice so much for our country — sometimes giving the ultimate sacrifice for freedom — but their family members and loved ones make sacrifices, too, with time spent apart, worry and anxiety, and separation. Every time a service member comes home safe and sound is a great moment, and surprise homecomings like this one are just amazing to see!
