‘Captain Marvel’ Star Visits Air Force To Prep For RoleJacob H.
Actress Brie Larson is set to play the lead role in one of Marvel’s newest superhero films — Captain Marvel. The film, which is set for release in 2019, centers on the super-powered heroine who has super strength, flight, and can shoot energy beams from her hands. The character, Carol Danvers, got her start as a different kind of hero though. She was originally an Air Force pilot.
So for Larson, who will be fighting as one of the Avengers on the silver screen, there could be no better teacher to learn how to fly than the Air Force. That prompted her to visit Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada recently, where she met with several Airmen and prepared to get some air time in an F-15 fighter jet.
Staff Sgt. Don Wallace, USAF, posted a few photos of Larson’s visit to the base on Instagram. According to his posts, Larson met with several Airmen and learned all about F-15s, their history, and what it takes to be a Air Force pilot.
Known for her work in television and film, including Room and Kong: Skull Island, Brie Larson has been cast to play the newest superhero in the Marvel Avengers franchise.
According to Air Force Times, Larson met with Brig. Gen. Jeannie Leavitt, who was the very first female fighter pilot in the Air Force and now serves as the Commander of the 57th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base. She should serve as a remarkable source of inspiration for Larson, an Oscar-winning actress, who will be playing an Air Force Colonel in the new Marvel movie.
There is speculation and rumor that Larson’s Captain Marvel may make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers film, Infinity War, but fans won’t know until the movie hits theaters in May.
During her visit to the Air Force base, according to Air Force Times, Staff Sgt. Wallace said that Larson “was particularly interested in learning about the G-forces a pilot can pull in an F-15, its maneuverability, and its mission capabilities.”
Larson later posted a photo on social media of her in a flight suit with the caption, “Learning how to fly.” She was expected to go for a flight in an F-16 with the Air Force this week, as well, and that photo makes it look like she’s certainly ready for it.
Captain Marvel, one the newest installments to the Marvel Avengers franchise, is set to hit theaters March 6, 2019. It’s great to see that, in the meantime, Larson is taking her role as an Air Force pilot seriously and getting her inspiration straight from the source. That can only mean good things for the film!
