Navy Officer Meets Baby Daughter For First Time

U.S. Navy dental officer Lieutenant Dan Haws served in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010. He was deployed overseas for seven long months, and during that time something very special happened — his daughter was born. It was unspeakably amazing for Lt. Haws to become a father, but the problem was that he was in a military zone on the other side of the world and couldn’t hold his baby girl.

It’s hard to imagine a father so far from home knowing that he has a child he has never met, and the anticipation of finally coming home safe to see her for the first time.

In the video below, Lt. Dan Haws is returning home from Afghanistan to meet his new baby daughter for the first time. The video follows him throughout the day as he gets home and as the anticipation builds it can be felt just by watching. This is a must-see homecoming video and the moment he gets to meet his daughter is so heartwarming!

We owe service members like the lieutenant a wealth of gratitude and support we’ll never be able to repay.
