SFC Leroy Petry, of the Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment, was honored for his courageous service overseas with the prestigious Medal of Honor. The Congressional Medal of Honor is the highest decoration that can be awarded to a member of the military, and is normally bestowed by the President at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

There’s more to Petry’s story, though. Along with receiving the Medal of Honor, he was also given a house to share with his family! The Military Warriors Support Foundation, with the help of generous donors and the local community, purchased Petry and his family their first house in their hometown of Lakewood, Washington.

After a total of eight deployments and a few serious injuries during his tours of duty, SFC Petry and his family were given the deed to a new house, courtesy of the Military Warriors Support Foundation and the local community.

What better way to thank a veteran for his service than with a place to finally call home!
