Mariah Carey – Star Spangled Banner

The NFL had a difficult task for Super Bowl XXXVI as they were celebrating the championship game of national football, but also honoring the memory of those who were killed in the September 11th attacks.

One of the decisions the NFL had to make was who would be the perfect performer to sing The Star Spangled Banner. While it took some time to think it over, there was a pretty easy answer to that question.

During the 2002 Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans, fans and players alike showed their patriotism as our nation’s greatest songbird, Mariah Carey, sang the Star Spangled Banner!

She was accompanied by the Boston Pops Orchestra and you can tell by just listening to her version, why she was the right choice! This was part of the beautiful tribute to America the NFL put together for Super Bowl XXXVI.

Watch and enjoy this moment in one of America’s beloved sports’ history.
