Would You Do What This Soldier Did To Reunite With His Service Dog?

Like so many of our country’s heroes, Sheldon Holland was forced to say goodbye to one of his closest friends when his deployment ended — his beloved service dog, Django. But unlike most, Holland went to extreme lengths to reunite with the hero he had to leave behind.

Holland and Django were an inseparable team, saving hundreds of lives as they searched for explosives on their base in Afghanistan. Before their separation, Holland made two promises: 1) to return for Django, and 2) to take Django to see the ocean for the first time.

It took Holland nearly two years and $8,000 to get clearance to collect Django from Afghanistan and their reunion is unforgettable.

Both our veterans and shelter animals have been through traumatic events, but together they can help each other heal.
