What in the Heck is He Painting? Is That… What I Think It Is?

Bringing new meaning to performance art…LITERALLY!

Michael Israel is an American humanitarian and performance artist who is known for his live action paintings that have raised money for charity.

His performances have been referred to as a “Cirque De Sole meets Picasso” experience. Watching this video, you can see why he is called a performance artist.
In the video, Michael Israel creates an unmistakable portrait of American heroism during a live benefit performance in 2007.

Literally spinning his canvas as he goes, Michael’s painting is revealed in stages, one surprise after another. This is art fulfilling its ultimate purpose: touching our spirits and arousing the very best within us. Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” and Enrique Iglesias’s “Hero” make Michael’s patriotism and superb showmanship soar.

It is always interesting to see an artist do their work; this performance is one I could watch again and again.
