This Impromptu Performance Will Bring Pride To Every American Heart

Lee Greenwood is famous for his music, in particular the patriotic hit “God Bless The USA” which he wrote in 1984. The song has been a favorite for decades, but it was in 2015 at the NHL Winter Classic that something magical happened with the song.

Lee Greenwood was set to perform between periods at the hockey game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Washington Capitals. Also at the game was the U.S. Army Chorus, which had helped open the game with the National Anthem.

It was backstage in the arena’s tunnels that the two met – Greenwood and the Army Chorus. Greenwood had just finished performing during intermission and was walking through the tunnel when they crossed paths.

After shaking hands and taking some pictures together, they all started an impromptu a cappella performance.

The result was… well, just listen to it for yourself below!
