This Impromptu Rendition of the National Anthem Blew the Crowd Away

Watch West Virginia University police officer perform a solid rendition of the National Anthem to open a West Virginia University vs. Kansas basketball game. With the scheduled singer stuck in traffic, Smith had only five minutes to prepare, but he provided a classy start for the big game. Smith has had some experience singing in the past so this was not a new thing for him to perform in front of a large crowd. A WVU alumnus, Smith has also competed as a Mountaineer Idol and an American Idol contestant. When he performed the National Anthem in the past it was with more prep but we think that he did an amazing job. Singing the National Anthem brings him a feeling of pride, he explained.

The next time a singer is stuck in traffic or unable to perform for whatever reason, we recommended finding the security guard or police office and have them fill in. Hopefully they are as prepared as Smith was.
