When a young boy found $20 in a Cracker Barrel parking lot, he was excited about all the possible goodies that his new money might buy him. However, this caring young boy changed his mind immediately when he spotted a man in uniform who was dining at the same restaurant.
He knew at that moment exactly what to do with that $20 he had just found in the parking lot.
As Lieutenant Colonel Frank Dailey went to lunch with his family, the active duty fighter pilot never expected such emotions from the tiny package: a post-it note wrapped around a soggy, cold twenty-dollar bill. The young boys Myles Eckert’s father, the note explained, was also a soldier – and this twenty dollars, found only moments before lying in a Cracker Barrel parking lot, was his only way of paying it forward.
Myles couldn’t thank his own dad for his service. All he has of Sergeant Andy Eckert are pictures, dog tags and other people’s memories.
